There are several surgical conditions which may require a medical approach i.e. without surgery. This may be a precursor to the surgical management as well. This is known as conservative management.
What Questions should you ask your surgeon ?
  • What is the diagnosis of my condition?
  • What is the best possible treatment plan?
  • What surgery will be performed?
  • How many days of hospital stay will be required?
  • What is the type of surgery? E.g.: elective/emergency/minor/major
  • What are the advantages of the surgery advised.
What is Key-hole surgery?
Key-hole surgery is another term for minimally invasive surgical procedures like laparoscopic and robotic surgeries. In these surgeries, 2-4 small incisions are used instead of long incisions. This results in minimal post-operative pain, early mobilization, better cosmetic scars and minimization of post-operative sequelae of long scars. Today, minimally invasive surgery is the surgical method of choice for intra-abdominal, pelvic and intra-thoracic conditions.
