CATARACT

A Cataract is cloudiness of the normal lens of the eye. A normal lens is clear and focuses light and enables you to see. Your vision becomes blurred because the cataract is like frosted glass, interfering with your sight.

The way to treat is to surgically remove the normal lens and replace it with an artificial lens called an intraocular lens implant.

We at M.G.M New Bombay Hospital, use the most advanced modern technique for cataract removal known as phacoemulsification using state of the art equipment.

CORNEA AND EXTERNAL EYE DISEASES

Excellent diagnosis and management of all problems involving the conjunctiva, cornea, anterior chamber of the eye, iris and lens including allergies, infections, dry eyes, tear disorders etc.

GLAUCOMA

Glaucoma is an important cause of blindness. In this condition, the pressure inside the eye goes up damaging the delicate nerve fibers & ultimately the optic nerve resulting in visual field loss. Unfortunately glaucoma is typically associated with painless and progressive loss of vision that may escape detection by the patient. This once again stresses the importance of a thorough eye examination.

REFRACTIVE ERRORS

Refractive errors lead to visual impairment affecting the quality of the vision. It is especially critical to detect these in children. If untreated, this can lead to a lazy eye that may not be recovered in future. This again underscores the importances of regular eye check up for everyone specially children. This problem can easily be solved with glasses or contact lenses & now a day with laser treatment, if required.

DIABETIC RETINOPATHY

Diabetic retinopathy results from effects of the diabetes on blood vessels in the retina, the tissue that lines the inner eye. Diabetes causes retinal blood vessels to leak and grow abnormally causing visual loss, if untreated-blindness. Fortunately this blindness is avoidable. All you need to do is to have a regular eye examination to detect this condition at the earliest and treat it at the earliest. The hospital has excellent Diabetic Retinopathy Clinic well equipped with Zeiss Angiography System, Zeiss Nd-yag Laser, Alcon A&B Ultrasound Scan to help these patients.
